Stephane Moureu [ France ]

Stéphane started playing drums in 1998. He studied with Jean-Luc Landsweerdt (French National Jazz Orchestra 2002-2005) in Dunkirk and with Adrien ZAMPIERI at the ADRIEM school in Lille. Passionate about swing and blues drummers from the 40’s / 50’s, he developed his skills in these two musical styles. Stéphane has played in many French blues festivals (opening for Johnny Winter, Bill Perry, Poppa Chubby) and won the COGNAC BLUES PASSION award at the BLUES SUR SEINE festival in 2010 with BLUES EATERS. Today, Stéphane teaches drums and blues at the Ecole des Musiques Improvisées et Jazz in Elbeuf. He currently plays in Normandy in different bands including the quintets THOM & THE TONE MASTERS and ZELDA & THE PARADISE CLUB.

"For some years now, I've been trying to find cymbals with a sound like that of the jazz drummers from the 40’s / 50’s:  handcrafted cymbals, with a natural organic sound. I found exactly what I was looking for with the MURAT DIRIL cymbals series including the possibility of combining a powerful and sharp hi-hat with versatile and deep rides. In addition, our French distributor, Pierre ANCILOTTO, provides great advice and technical support for drummers when choosing their cymbals."
